Bids received for first three contracts

The 2008 Fix Our Streets program continues to move forward and build momentum. The City of Tulsa sold $11.1 million in bonds in May 2009, and the first projects were advertised and awarded in July. Construction will begin as soon as September.

The first three Fix Our Streets contracts are as follows:

  • Mohawk Boulevard between Cincinnati Avenue and Garrison Avenue. This $694,676 contract has been awarded to Becco Contractors Inc. Construction is scheduled to begin in the fall of 2009.
  • East 111th Street and East 121st Street, between South Yale Avenue and South Sheridan Road. A $985,411 contract has been awarded to Paragon Contractors Inc. Construction is scheduled to begin in September.
  • East 51st Street between South Garnett Road and South 129th East Avenue. APAC-Oklahoma Inc. submitted the low bid of $963,841 for this project. Construction is scheduled to begin in the fall of 2009.

The Fix Our Streets funding measure is the largest street infrastructure program in Tulsa's history. It provides $451.6 million for arterial and non-arterial street rehabilitation, reconstruction, preventive and routine maintenance. General obligation bonds are sold to fund the first two years of the five-year program. Starting in 2012, funding will come from a voter-approved 0.167 cent sales tax and an extension of the third penny sales tax.
